Admissions Arrangements

Bowmansgreen Primary School is a two-form entry community primary school for children aged 5 to 11. At the end of November 2015, the total number of registered pupils was 403.

Our admissions’ procedures follow Hertfordshire County Council’s Admissions Policy. General information on all application processes is available at http://www.hertsdirect.org/services/edlearn/admissions/ and are explained fully in the ‘Starting School’ publication available from the Local Authority (and is covered in detail here: http://www.hertsdirect.org/docs/pdf/admissions/Scheme1617.pdf). For entry into Reception, prospective parents should complete the County admissions forms, within the set time frame.

For children moving in to the area or wishing to switch schools later in their primary school career, we encourage you to visit our school. If you wish to then apply for a place, In-Year admission forms and information are available online at  http://www.hertsdirect.org/services/edlearn/admissions/inyear/

Provided numbers in the relevant year group do not exceed the school’s admission number of 60, a school place will be offered. If the school is oversubscribed the school will follow the Hertfordshire County Council’s over subscription criteria:  http://www.hertsdirect.org/docs/pdf/admissions/Primaryarr1617.pdf .

Many of our Reception children join us from London Colney Nursery School or the Nursery class at St Bernadette’s School. There is a close liaison between Bowmansgreen and these schools – visits are made and records passed on.

VISITS

Choosing the right school for your child is an important decision. We warmly encourage parents to visit the school prior to completing the Primary Admissions application form. Children moving into the area are encouraged to visit with their parents. To arrange a visit, please telephone the School Office.
