Breakfast Club News – 13.10.17

We’ve had another fantastic week this week with our numbers still increasing. The children are all hoping to win the Monster Pumpkin which will be drawn in next Friday’s Celebration Assembly. There’s still time to come along and enter. Children can enter each time that they visit Breakfast Club. Next Friday’s movie will be The Lego Batman film as we look forward to half term.

Let’s Talk About It – Wellbeing Week

Pupils were entertained on Tuesday when we had a theatre company visit and perform a show called “Let’s Talk About It”. The emphasis was on wellbeing and feelings as part of our preparations for the school wellbeing week which takes place next week. Wellbeing will be the focus of our Curriculum Evening on Thursday 19th October (3.00 – 4.00 and 6.00 – 7.00). Next week is Bowmansgreen’s Wellbeing week where there will be an increased focus on promoting a healthy physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. On Tuesday, pupils watched a theatre performance called ‘Let’s Talk About It’ which focused on some of the themes and issues that will be further explored next week. The show delivered some important messages about helping children to look after themselves and each other, especially regarding their feelings, confidence and self-esteem. This week This week we have continued talking about people who help us to stay safe with a focus on the police. We have talked about what the police do to keep us safe. We made posters and hunted for clues to find one of the chickens that had gone missing…luckily she was found safe and well. We used magnifying glasses to hunt for tiny letters and key words. Tae Kwon Do & Karate Successes

Lily (Year 6 ) and Amelie (Year 3) Natasha (Year 6) On Sunday 1st October Lily and Amelie competed in the South East Open Tae Kwon Do Championships. They both had hard fights in their categories. Amelie came away with a bronze medal and Lily came away with a silver medal, just missing out on the gold by 1 point.
