Early Years News – 14.07.2017

This week
This week the children finished off their work for the curriculum evening inspired by their trip to Paradise Wildlife Park. It was lovely to see so many children sharing their work with their families. The children enjoyed reading the story ‘Sharing a Shell’, writing about being a good friend and making aquariums out of the construction materials inspired by the school fish tank. In maths, we have been using number tracks to count and add. You could practise this at home using the number lines in your home learning pack.

The children met their class teachers for next year on Thursday. They had a great time creating ‘helping hands’ for their class monitor display. They also made ‘finger spacers’ which will help them with their writing next year. They began to learn about their teachers and their new classrooms. Each child was given a summer “busy book” by their teacher. Over the summer you can support your child in filling this book with photos, tickets, drawings and of course writing! In their first week back the children will have the opportunity to share their “busy book” with their teacher.

Next week
Next week we will be reviewing our basic number skills and playing maths games. We will also be learning more about our new year 1 classrooms and continue thinking about what year 1 will be like.
