I am Linda Forbes and I have had the privilege of being a Local Authority Governor at Bowmansgreen since Spring 2016. I became a Governor after being approached directly by the previous Chair of Governors who had read my profile on an education site. I was invited to Bowmansgreen and was immediately impressed by the welcoming, caring atmosphere in the school and the very obvious determination from the Governors to support continuous school improvement and better outcomes for all children.
I have a background in education, qualified and taught in Scotland before moving south and among other roles have served in the position of Head Teacher in two schools in Brent and Hertfordshire for over 20 years. I now work part time for UCL Institute of Education in London on the PGCE programme which trains graduates to become Primary teachers.
I am passionate about school improvement and ensuring that each child reaches their unique potential regardless of personal circumstances, race, gender or ability. I have been nothing less than incredibly impressed by Bowmansgreen’s school leadership team and their dogged determination to raise standards. I hope that my background in education is helpful in supporting the direction of the school.
I absolutely love visiting Bowmansgreen to meet the children as daily contact with the ‘wonderful and fascinating world of children’ is something I dearly miss!
My fun job is a part time ‘ski instructor’ at a local indoor slope and I hope to lead an assembly for the children soon and possibly run a competition for some ski lessons when we hit the less busy Summer season.
