Admissions
We are please that you are considering a place at our school for your child. Choosing the right school for your child is an important decision and we encourage parents to visit the school prior to applying for a place at Bowmansgreen. To arrange a visit, please telephone the School Office on 01727 767772.
We believe that all children of school age benefit from starting school together at the beginning of the school year, regardless of differences in age: the children are introduced to the learning environment, their peers and school routines in a gradual and planned way. For this reason, we will only consider requests for deferred or part-time entry in exceptional cases and where there is clear evidence that this is in the best interests of the child. Any requests for admissions outside of a child’s normal age group must be made to the local authority in the first instance and before the closing date.
Our admission procedures follow Hertfordshire County Council’s Admission Rules and places in our reception classes are allocated by Hertfordshire County Council. You may also find helpful information at Primary, junior and middle school places | Hertfordshire County Council, as well as Important dates – primary, junior and middle school admissions | Hertfordshire County Council.
Before your child starts school, find out about attendance, free meals, any help with costs, and how you can work together with their school to support your child's education and development- Hertfordshire ‘Starting School’ information.
For entry into Reception, prospective parents should complete the county admissions forms, within the set time frame. Once your child has been offered a place at Bowmansgreen, we will contact you to welcome you to our school community and begin your child’s transition to our school.
