Bowmansgreen Primary School

Curriculum

At Bowmansgreen, we strive to create an environment that inspires and nurtures each child to achieve excellence together. Our vision is centred around fostering a love for learning, where every pupil feels valued and encouraged to pursue their individual ambitions. We recognise that education is not just about the acquisition of knowledge; it is also about the development of social, moral, and physical skills that prepare children for their continuing learning journey.

Our curriculum is designed to enable our pupils to flourish, succeed, and reach their full potential. We believe that each child is unique and has the ability to shine in their own way. By providing an inclusive and engaging curriculum, we nurture the diverse talents of our pupils. Through a rich variety of learning experiences, we encourage them to explore their interests, thrive academically, and cultivate important life skills.

We are committed to guiding our pupils in developing essential values such as kindness, friendship, truth and honesty, respect, courage, determination, and trust. These core values underpin our teaching and provide a solid foundation for our children as they navigate their educational and personal lives. We aim to instil a sense of responsibility and community, helping our pupils understand the importance of being good citizens in a diverse society.

In our pursuit of delivering a broad and balanced curriculum, we ensure that our lessons not only impart knowledge and understanding but also foster the development of skills that facilitate progress for every child. We believe that learning should be fun, engaging, and absorbing. Therefore, we create opportunities that excite and motivate pupils both in the classroom and beyond.

Ultimately, our goal is to equip children with the tools and experiences they need to grow into confident, resilient individuals who are ready to take on future challenges. By promoting their personal development, we nurture well-rounded individuals who are prepared for a successful journey ahead. At Bowmansgreen, we invite our pupils to explore their potential and celebrate their achievements together.

In the Early Years we use Development Matters and the Early Learning Goals (ELG) to guide our long, medium and short term planning. The school follows the National Curriculum for Years 1 - 6.  Key Stage 1 consists of Years 1 and Year 2.  Key Stage 2 consists of Years 3 to Year 6.
