Pupils
Welcome to the Pupils page of our school website, where we celebrate the experiences the pupils of Bowmansgreen enjoy during their time with us. We place great emphasis on personal development, nurturing lifelong skills and self-esteem through a variety of engaging initiatives. - Bowmansgreen Academy: An exciting initiative designed specifically for our Year 6 students as they prepare to transition to secondary school.
- Class Reshuffle: So that by the time our students leave Bowmansgreen as happy, confident, resilient and well-rounded individuals, we will be reorganising our classes at the end of children’s time in Reception, Year 2 and Year 4.
- DRUMBA: A blend of "drumming" and "Zumba". A fitness program that combines drumming and aerobic exercise to promote physical activity in a fun and engaging way. It helps improve focus, motor skills, physical fitness, and can be a great outlet for stress relief
- Extra-curricular clubs: We offer our children a wide range of diverse extra curricular activities is very important as it encourages them to become independent, confident and successful members of the community. Many of our clubs are run by external providers and take place after school but we also run clubs at lunchtime.
By embedding leadership opportunities early, we equip pupils with the confidence, resilience and teamwork skills they need for the future. These roles are not just honorary; they carry real responsibility, too. From mentoring younger pupils to assisting in school events, our leaders play an active role in shaping school culture. As we continue to develop our Personal Development Curriculum, the focus remains on empowering young leaders who will carry these skills forward- both within and beyond our school walls.
- Eco-Council: Actively works on projects that promote sustainability, encouraging pupils to take an active role in making a positive impact on the world around them. Our educational visits are thoughtfully planned to complement the curriculum, providing pupils with hands-on learning experiences that ignite their curiosity and broaden their horizons
- House Captains: A position of leadership and responsibility, held by elected Year 6 pupils. House Captains represent their school house and act as role models for other children. House Captains lead their house in school events, such as sports days, competitions, and assemblies, encouraging teamwork and a positive attitude.
- Library Leaders: Help keep our school library a welcoming and exciting space by promoting a love of reading. They share book recommendations, encourage others to explore different genres, and set a good example by caring for books and maintaining a calm, respectful reading environment. Their role is key in building a strong reading culture throughout the school.
- Pupil Parliament: Pupils elected to represent the views and voices of their classmates, helping to make the school a better place for everyone. They represent their class in meetings, share ideas from classmates, help make decisions about school improvements, and work with staff to create positive changes.
- Safeguarding Committee: Consists of pupils from across the school, working closely with Mrs Fleming to ensure a safe environment for both students and staff. They actively recognise and appreciate community members who contribute to making our school a welcoming and positive place. Collecting pupil voice is essential, as they gather feedback on how the school can enhance safety. Moreover, they are always there to listen to their classmates' concerns and worries.
- Signing Crew: We’re proud of our diverse school community and celebrate it through our Sign of the Week initiative. Each week, children choose a British Sign Language (BSL) sign to teach their peers, promoting inclusion, communication, and a strong sense of belonging at Bowmansgreen.
- Sports Ambassadors and Leaders: Inspire their classmates to embrace an active lifestyle and promote participation in various physical activities. These roles encourage teamwork, resilience, and a love for sport, culminating in a well-rounded experience at Bowmansgreen.
- Year 5 and Reception Buddies: Pairs older pupils with younger ones to help Reception children feel welcome and supported as they settle into school life. Year 5 buddies act as role models, offering friendship, guidance, and encouragement during playtimes, classroom activities, and special events. This partnership helps build confidence, kindness, and a strong sense of community across the school.
