New Families

Staff and governors would like to extend a warm welcome to you. We are very pleased that you have chosen to join the Bowmansgreen school community and look forward to working closely with you.

Joining a new school – or starting school for the first time – is a significant transition for children of all ages.  We aim to provide a supportive, personalised induction so that your child can settle, make friends, gain confidence and feel included as part of their new class and the wider school.

Once a child’s place at Bowmansgreen has been confirmed, we require some information about them and their immediate family so that we can complete the enrolment process and provide a start date. Enrolment forms will be sent to you via the school office. These must be completed before your child can start at Bowmansgreen.

Key information for new families:

School Meals
At Bowmansgreen, we use a system for selecting and ordering lunch called SchoolGrid. Pupils can choose their lunch in advance at home or in the morning, in the classroom.
Children in EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to Universal Infant Free School meals (UIFSM) which provides funding to offer free school meals to pupils in these year groups. This will happen automatically when your child joins Bowmansgreen.
Children in Year 3 and above can receive a free school meal if their family receives one of the qualifying benefits.
If your child has a food allergy, intolerance or other dietary need, they may need a special menu. You will need to apply for a special menu through Herts Catering Ltd (HCL) via an on-line application form. Until we receive confirmation that HCL is able to provide your child with a special meal, your child will need to bring a packed lunch from home. When applying for a special menu on line, please have to hand any medical evidence and a passport style photograph to upload onto your application.
