Bowmansgreen Girls V St. Peter’s
The girls played well in their last game against Mandeville and were very lucky, as our equalising goal was an own goal from a Mandeville player. This week the girls were required to pull their socks up and produce a strong performance. St. Peter’s started the game well, with lots of attacking play. The Bowmansgreen girls did well to hold them off but got caught on the counter attack and found themselves 0-1 down. The pressure didn’t last long, and Bowmansgreen soon found their equaliser through Laila, whose previous effort, minutes before, came agonisingly close. The girls were 1-1 at the break.
Again, St Peter’s started strong but goal keeper Emily denied them finding the back of the net for a second goal. The performance from the girls was outstanding and the calm aura from Mia, Kyeesha and Lucy in defence seemed to spread throughout the team. The attacking play from the midfield grew stronger throughout the match and persistent chasing from Lacie got her the reward she deserved; not just one goal but two! Bowmansgreen didn’t take their foot off the gas and held their two goal lead until the final whistle, bringing home the 3-1 win.
Another fantastic performance, ensuring that they remain unbeaten in all competitions.
Team – Marilena, Lucy, Emily, Laila, Kyeesha, Lily, Lacie, Bianca & Sofia
Boys B v Killigrew
The boys B team played against Killigrew B on Monday and produced their best passing and defending of the season to win the game comfortably 2-0 and move up the League.
Zeph opened the scoring in the 1st half as the pressure told on the Killigrew keeper (who is the District A team goalkeeper) and the defence. He broke into the box and smashed the ball towards goal and a slight deflection took it into the net. The 2nd half was an example of how to keep the ball as the Bowmansgreen boys passed the ball quickly and into the right areas which led to Evan slamming a fine strike into the top corner.
Final score – Bowmansgreen B 2-0 Killigrew
B Squad – Simon, Hugo, Owen, Zeph, Evan, Tobi, Youcef, Jack & Andrew.
Boys v Bernards Heath
The boys played really well tonight against Bernards Heath but came away losing 4-2 in an entertaining end to end match. Having learned lots from their last game against Fleetville, the Bowmansgreen team kept really good shape and defended well whilst George and Daniel were looking very dangerous when Bowmansgreen had possession. Bernards Heath took the lead early on, only for Mirko to equalise with a spectacular long range effort that eluded the keeper. Bowmansgreen even took the lead when Daniel capitalised on a pass from George and finished well. Bernards Heath were the better side as the game came to the end, scoring 3 goals to win the match 4-2 but it was a great improvement in performance from the Bowmansgreen side.
Squad – Kaleb, Mirko, Seyawash, Luke, Daniel, Elijah, Albie & George.
